Meet the Honorees & Officers

Harold F. Marcus

HFL Board President-Elect 2025

Harold Marcus was recently elected as Hebrew Free Loan’s fourth individual president, following three years as Chair of the Fundraising and Marketing Committee. Under his leadership, HFL more than doubled its annual fundraising goal each year and the organization successfully hosted the first gala-style event in 10 years.

Harold retired after a 40+ year career with Israel Bonds, including 10 years as Executive Director of the Pennsylvania Region and 30 years in the Pittsburgh office. During his tenure, the region more than doubled annual sales. He has been honored by Temple Sinai in Pittsburgh and the Zionist Organization of America, and served on the board of Heritage Community Initiatives. Harold and his wife, Maureen, moved to Philadelphia in 2011. They have four children, six grandchildren, and are active members of Old York Road Temple-Beth Am.

Amy Krulik

HFL Board President 2018 - 2025

Amy Krulik is the third individual to serve as president of Hebrew Free Loan in the organization’s 40-year history. During her remarkable seven-year tenure, she led HFL into a new era—guiding the organization through the pandemic, championing the adoption of online payments and virtual loan closings, and expanding both awareness and support for HFL’s mission.

Amy is the Executive Director of Hope+Door and on the Advisory Board of Healthy NewsWorks. With more than 25 years of nonprofit leadership experience, she is recognized as an enterprising organizational leader. Amy holds a Master’s in City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Government and English from Hamilton College. She lives in Philadelphia with her husband Jeff and is the proud mother of two daughters who share her passion for community engagement.

Bara S. Levitt
Vice President

  • Bara comes from a background in EdTech and currently works as the Head of Customer Success at Capsule, a tech startup focused on expanding the ability of anyone to effectively communicate via professional looking video.

    Since moving to Philadelphia in late 2019 she has jumped into involvement with the community including serving as a volunteer tax preparer, serving three years on the NextGen at Federation Board and also serving as a committee member for her local civic association.

    Bara lives in South Philadelphia.

Jessica Slutsky
Treasurer

  • Jess Slutsky is Director at PWC Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP in the Digital Assurance& Transparency practice.  She is a self-starter with a demonstrated history of leading teams in consulting and assurance engagements over companies' business and IT processes and controls. Jess is also an XBRL subject matter expert helping companies improve the quality and usability of their XBRL financial reports. Jess particularly enjoys finding creative, technology-driven solutions to problems and is a key individual in the firm's digital strategy.

    Jess was born in Moscow, lived in Israel, and currently lives in the Philadelphia area with her family. Jess enjoys cooking, baking, and playing with her three children.

Julie Rappoport
Secretary

  • Julie Rappoport is a leadership coach and facilitator at Rich Leadership, where she works with senior leaders and teams to sharpen leadership skills, increase effectiveness, and drive meaningful business results. She leads The Leadership Room, Rich Leadership’s small-group coaching program, and oversees the firm’s business development and operations.

    Earlier in her career, Julie held senior HR leadership roles in digital marketing and media organizations, focusing on enabling high performance and guiding organizations through transformation and restructuring. 

    Julie graduated from the Double Degree Program, with bachelor’s degrees from Barnard and List Colleges. Originally from Fairfield, CT, she moved to Philly in 2021 after 15 years in Manhattan and considers it one of the best moves she’s made. Julie lives in Center City with her pup, Callie, and is excited to be part of HFL's growing impact in the Jewish community.
